In early June we took a trip to the Cariboo and on the drive up I saw the most magnificent dandelion field but was too enamored to photograph it. So instead, this painting took shape from that memory: a half-stormy day, a field so alive with the most enormous dandelions that you'd think they were planted intentionally. The epitome of summer.
This cheerful painting is not too small and not too large making it incredibly versatile, it will bring happiness and energy wherever you should hang it.
Size: 12” x 16” x 1.5”
Medium: Oil paint on premier gallery wrapped canvas. Signed on the front, signed and titled on the back. Ready to hang.
About The Learning To Fly Collection:
Tom Petty music will always bring me back to carefree, peaceful summer memories. The following lyrics in particular have felt very relevant as I’ve created this collection of paintings:
"I'm learning to fly but I ain't got wings. Coming down is the hardest thing. Well, the good old days may not return, and the rocks might melt and the sea may burn."
As I've begun this creative journey I feel as though I am learning to fly all over again. These lyrics also seem to capture the feeling of the world right now. The “good old days may not return”, yet perhaps something much more beautiful will remain after this moment in history. Perhaps we will be kinder to our neighbours, appreciate nature more than ever before, and open our eyes more readily to the injustice in the world. Perhaps we can be better.
