The title of this painting comes from a Tom Petty song about letting go and moving on. Something I’ve had to learn a lot about recently. I think, though cliché, sunsets are always a good metaphor for reminding us that endings can be incredibly beautiful.

This painting is not too small and not too large making it incredibly versatile. It will bring a sense of resilience to any corner of your home.

Tom Petty music will always bring me back to carefree, peaceful summer memories. The following lyrics in particular have felt very relevant as I’ve created this collection of paintings:

"I'm learning to fly but I ain't got wings. Coming down is the hardest thing. Well, the good old days may not return, and the rocks might melt and the sea may burn." 

As I've begun this creative journey I feel as though I am learning to fly all over again. These lyrics also seem to capture the feeling of the world right now. The “good old days may not return”, yet perhaps something much more beautiful will remain after this moment in history. Perhaps we will be kinder to our neighbours, appreciate nature more than ever before, and open our eyes more readily to the injustice in the world. Perhaps we can be better.
