On a hot, hot heat wave day this summer I took my daughter to the park. The playground was too hot, but we found shelter in the shade of this massive giant: an old pine much much older and wiser than ourselves. Nature’s generosity comes in many forms and sometimes the best gift is just a cool spot to sit and enjoy a snack.
Size: 24” x 24” x 1.5”
Medium: Oil paint on premier gallery wrapped canvas. Signed on the front, signed and titled on the back. Ready to hang.

What does it take to truly know nature?
Creating this body of work has been a journey toward a new perspective and better understanding of nature. Each piece in this series is immersive, capturing the feeling of being up close and completely surrounded by nature, especially the forest. Rather than observing the landscape from a viewpoint, we are seeing it from within.
These paintings capture an energy of change; from small changes in light or movement to grand seasonal shifts and even human-caused change. Through this work I have explored cycles of death and rebirth, shifting, accepting, being alive right in the middle of a moment.
